Replacement Consumer Unit Supplied, Installed and Certificated. This consumer unit offer provides RCBO protected outgoing ways with a surge protection device included. RCBO's are a preferred way of providing circuit protection compared to MCB's. The difference is that MCB's only provide overcurrent protection to each individual circuit and rely on an overall RCD to provide earth fault protection to several circuits at once, this can result in nuisance tripping taking out half or all of the circuits. RCBO's combine the characteristics of MCB's and RCD's to provide individual overcurrent and earth leakage protection to each individual circuit, the big advantage being that when one circuit suffers an earth leakage fault only that circuit trips. The surge protection device fitted as standard in these boards protect the installation against electrical spikes and surges from the national grid or lightning strikes, both of which can be very damaging to electronic equipment. Included in this offering is an electrical certificate following completion of the work. Testing and inspecting of the installation will be carried out before commencing work and if a faulty circuit is found that would be dangerous to re-connect we would not be able to reconnect until this fault was rectified. In this circumstance, with agreement from the client we would assess whether we could repair the fault on the day or whether a further visit would be needed before reconnecting the faulty circuit, it may mean living without a particular circuit for a few days in the name of safety.
